UNESCO is inviting Member States, in (0) consult(Prompt)consultation(Answer) with their National Commissions, and non-governmental organizations 1 maintain maintaining formal relations with UNESCO working in the field of human rights, to nominate candidates for the second edition of the UNESCO/Bilbao Prize for the 2 promote promotion of a Culture of Human Rights.

3 origin Originally scheduled for 8 September 2010, 4 submit submission of applications is extended until 17 September 2010.

The Prize is awarded to encourage 5 innovate innovative initiatives by institutions, organizations and individuals, serving to promote a culture of human rights at 6 region regional and international levels.

The Prize was established in 2008 thanks to a generous 7 endow endowment from the City of Bilbao (Spain). It enlarges the scope of the UNESCO Prize for Human Rights Education (1978-2006). Awarded by the Director-General of UNESCO, the Prize 8 consist consists of a monetary award, a diploma and a trophy.

9 nominate Nominations should be submitted using a form, which should be duly filled out in English or French and returned by 17 September 2010 at the 10 late latest.

The 2010 award ceremony will be held in Bilbao on 10 December 2010 – Human Rights Day.
